Zumbatomics Training!

I first heard about Zumbatomics (Zumba for kids) when I got licensed to teach Zumba over a year ago.  I thought the program sounded amazing...but I didn't really feel a strong desire for it at the time.  However that desire began to change as I watched one of my class participants bring her son to our Zumba class each week.  He would sit out in the hall, waiting for his mom to finish the class.  But it was so fun to see the affect the music had on this sweet, autistic boy.  He began dancing regularly out in the hall and would sing the Zumba songs when at home or in the car.  We nicknamed him our "Zumba Boy" and it was SO amazing to watch him fall in love with Zumba.  I repeatedly told his mom how he was inspiring me to get my Zumbatomics license!  I really wanted to be able to share this passion with him and with other kids as well!  At my last class at CDS, we invited our Zumba Boy to come and dance his favorite song with us: Thriller!  He was shy and embarassed at first, but eventually forgot all that and just got into the music!  It was an awesome moment!  And I knew that I HAD to get licensed in this new specialty.

So a couple weeks ago I was finally able to attend a Zumbatomics training! Wow, it was fun to be a kid again and learn all the fun things this program is all about!  And what has been even more fun is sharing the things I've learned with my boys.  They get to be my guinea pigs, haha.  And they love it!  They love dancing with me and listening to the music.  They've had such a blast with the choreographies...and we haven't even gotten to the games yet, so I know they'll love that part!  It's been so fun to share my love of Zumba with them...and they have loved being a part of it.

I still have some work to do before I'm ready to teach a class.  I'm going to be teaching my oldest son's Kindergarten class in a couple weeks, and I can't wait!  I also have some Zumbatomic Summer Camp ideas in the works!  It's been so fun developing some lesson plans and I can't wait to implement them.  I'll let you all know when I have more details. :)

FREE Class this Wednesday! Directions, address, and more...

Wednesday is the day!  I will be having a FREE class at 8:30 PM at the Jean Taylor  Studio 1 dance studio.  This is located in the iTransact building, 316 South 200 West, Farmington.  This building sits on the west side of 200 West, just behind another building.  It is just south of  Farmington Jr. High.
Directions from the South: From I-15, take the Lagoon Dr Exit (Exit 322).  Keep right at the fork and follow signs torwards UT-225 and merge onto 200 W.  JT Studio 1 will be on your left (316 S. 200 W.).
Directions from the North: From I-15, take Exit 325 (Park Lane/Station Park/Lagoon).  Take a right on Park Lane.  Then turn left on Clark Lane.  This street will turn into State Street.  Turn right on 200 West.  The studio will be on your right.  Don’t go too far or you’ll get on the freeway.  I think it’s the second building after the jr. high.
I’ve had three song requests so far…please let me know if you have one! J  I’ve been debating whether to do lots of new songs or lots of old.
Punch cards will be available for purchase.  They will be $40 for 10 classes, but if you purchase on Wednesday, I will add an 11th class for FREE. J  Plus, Wednesday (April 11th) is free, so it’s like 12 classes for $40!  That's only $3.33 a class!  That's a great deal!  Regular drop-in price is $5 a class.
We may also have the option to add a Monday or Tuesday class at this location as well.
I'm SO excited to see you all!  We are going to have a blast! Beginners are welcome! Please let me know if you have any questions!

Moving Announcement

Many of you have already heard, but for those who haven't, I'm afraid I have some sad news.  I am moving and will be unable to teach in West Jordan anymore.  I am SO SO sad to leave all of you, but I feel like the commute would just be too far.  I want you all to know how much I have LOVED teaching you and getting to know you this last year.  Your bright faces and contagious energy have been amazing!  Thank you, thank you for your continued support and for making this past year of teaching such a success!

My last Saturday class at CDS will be January 14th.  That class will then be cancelled.  I plan on teaching until the end of January at Extravadance.  My class will then be taken over by another instructor, Jamie Hunt.  I'm hoping to occasionally come back and teach you guys at fun events, black light parties, etc.  I will also begin searching for a teaching opening near my new home (in Kaysville).   I will let you guys know, so that if you're in the area you can stop by! Hopefully we can meet up in a class sometime soon!  Zumba love!
